Nymphaea capensis - Cape Blue Water Lily

The Cape Blue Water Lily (Nymphaea capensis) is an aquatic, flowering plant of the family Nymphaeaceae.
It is found growing in freshwater habitats in South Africa and neighbouring countries.

Nymphaea capensis is closely related to Nymphaea caerulea (Blue Lotus) as well as Nymphaea alba (White Lotus).

They are similar in shape and appearance with Cape Blue Water Lily being a bright purple, the Blue Lotus being a sky-blue color and White Lotus being white.
